But during a test run for the first live show Petra was interrupted as an audience member’s phone appeared to receive multiple notifications from gay dating app Grindr.
Petra, 54, was demonstrating to viewers how to download and use the official Eurovision app when the blunder took place.
As the audience members recognised the alert sound and erupted into laughter, the seasoned host addressed the hilarious mishap.
She said: “I don’t know what that was, but anyway, download this Eurovision app.”
As more notifications came in, she turned to the audience member and said: “I’ll just give you the phone back.
“It seems like you’re having a wonderful week here in Malmo.”
This isn’t Petra Mede’s first time at Eurovision as she last hosted the show back in 2016 after Sweden won the year before with Måns Zelmerlöw’s Heroes.
Talking about being back, she said: “Imagine getting the chance to host Eurovision once again! It’s such an incredible honour.
